Dalam konteks masyarakat papua, faktor-faktor budaya seperti perjalanan untuk menghadiri upacara adat, dan acara komunitas dapat mempengaruhi mobilitas pengguna Jalan Trans Papua yang berada di Kabupaten Merauke. Penelitian ini menganalisis karakteristik sosial ekonomi pengguna Jalan Trans Papua rute perintis di Kabupaten Merauke. Tujuannya adalah mengetahui karakter pengguna Jalan Trans Papua Rute Perintis di Kabupaten Merauke yang berbasis kondisi sosial dan ekonomi serta memahami pemilihan jenis kendaraan yang digunakan untuk sampai pada lokasi tujuan. Metode analisis menggunakan analisis deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan preferensi moda mobil pribadi (38%), sepeda motor (34%), dan angkutan umum bus (28%) dengan pergerakan didominasi Penduduk Kabupaten Merauke yaitu 89,6%. Profil demografis pun menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas pengguna adalah pria (66,7%), perempuan berkontribusi (33,3%). Komposisi usia didominasi
kelompok produktif, terutama 19–25 tahun (34,6%) dan 26–35 tahun (41,5%). Tujuan perjalanan terkonsentrasi di Sota, sejalan dengan maksud perjalanan terbesar berupa kunjungan keluarga dan rekreasi, serta durasi perjalanan cenderung panjang dan biaya perjalanan pada kisaran menengah. Berdasarkan data yang dikumpulkan ada sebesar 60% pengguna transportasi Jalan Trans Papua rute perintis di Kabupaten Merauke yang berpendapatan diatas 3,5 juta cenderung menggunakan kendaraan pribadi dibandingkan Bus Damri yang rata-rata pendapatan penggunanya dibawah 3,5 juta atau bahkan dibawa 1 juta. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini menegaskan pentingnya pengembangan kebijakan transportasi yang inklusif dan adaptif terhadap kondisi sosial-ekonomi masyarakat, agar pengguna moda transportasi Jalan Trans Papua Rute Perintis di Kabupaten Merauke dapat memberikan alternatif yang kompetitif dan berkelanjutan.
