Mekanisme Korosi dan Perlindungannya dengan Lapisan Berbasis Polimer: Review

INTISARI

Korosi pada baja merupakan masalah yang krusial karena dapat mengganggu integritas dan keamanan infrastruktur. Korosi atmosferik, sebagai bentuk korosi yang umum terjadi, sangat dipengaruhi oleh faktor lingkungan seperti suhu, kelembapan, serta keberadaan ion agresif seperti klorida dan sulfur dioksida. Proses korosi ini berlangsung dalam beberapa tahap, mulai dari pembentukan lapisan oksida hingga terbentuknya produk korosi akhir. Untuk mengurangi laju korosi, pelapisan permukaan logam dengan bahan polimer seperti epoxy, alkyd, dan polyurethane menjadi salah satu metode yang efektif. Pelapis ini bekerja sebagai penghalang fisik yang membatasi kontak antara logam dan agen korosif. Paper ini membahas proses terjadinya korosi atmosferik, faktor-faktor yang memengaruhinya, serta mekanisme pelindung dari pelapis berbasis polimer.
